Patience among Americans

A recent Associated Press study attempted to gauge the level of patience among Americans. The study found that the average time people will wait in line before leaving is 17 minutes and the average time they will wait on the phone before hanging up is 9 minutes. On average, women were found to be more patient than men, while suburban residents tended to be more patient than urban residents.

USERRA

The Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA) was enacted in 1994. The law prohibits discrimination or denial of employment against persons because of their military service. USERRA also protects the right of veterans and reservists to reclaim their civilian employment after being absent due to military service or training.

The average response rate for exit interviews is approximately 35%. Improve exit interview participation rates: provide simplified questionnaires; let the employee know their feedback is valuable; let the employee know their honest feedback will not result in repercussions; and audit the events that occur from the time an employee gives notice to when the employee submits the exit interview.
